Mission - Yolanda C. Mora, 68, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Mission Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mission, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.
As the eldest of six siblings, Yolanda set a high standard for her siblings to follow, and her generosity to them was endless. She graduated from Pan Am in 1975 with a Teaching Degree in primary and secondary (History/Government) education. Then, in 1979, she attained a master’s degree in bi-lingual education from East Texas State University at Commerce. She was 20 years old when she began teaching and retired in 2010 after 35 years of teaching. Most of her teaching (US History/ Civics) centered on high school sophomores and seniors at PSJA. She was an extraordinary, caring and motivating teacher and never forgot her students, her family and her country. Yolanda was briefly married and blessed with a son who was the love of her life. She also loved to go on long walks, workout at Gloria’s Energetics and go dancing (all genres). With her 100-watt smile, she would make you feel at home. There was never a dull moment when Yoli was around! She will be deeply loved and everyone she encountered in her life will be forever blessed.
