Vicente H. Tamez

Donna - Vicente H. Tamez, 77, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Rev. Vicente was born on March 19, 1945 in Donna, TX, son of Claudio & Ernestina Tamez.

Mr. Tamez is preceded in death by his parents; Claudio and Ernestina Tamez, his daughter Ernestine Washington & his siblings Librado Tamez, Janie Lopez and Roy Tamez.

He is survived by his wife Gregoria Tamez, daughter Argelia Tamez Morales, and son Claudio (Yadira) Tamez of Donna, TX. Following by numerous grandchildren (10), great grandchildren (16), and (1) great-great grandchild, (2) brothers and (4) sisters.

Vicente was a loving husband, father, & PAPO to all his grandchildren. He was an honest, hardworking, humble man. He had committed his life to the service of God. He fulfilled his mission by preaching the gospel for the past 55 years. Our Papo had so much love for his wife to whom he shared 64 years of marriage with. They were our family's greatest treasure. They always showed us what the true meaning of love was. He loved her dearly. They had a love like no other. From daily commutes to the post office or to Walmart; they were inseparable. Our Papo the preacher was an old fashion, King James, hell fire and brimstone preacher man. He has spread the Gospel throughout this land; touching and saving lives through acceptance of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Papo had a heart of gold and always put others before himself. His family was his greatest blessing. Anyone that had the privilege of knowing him knew the significance of what God, faith, family and love meant to him.

Words honestly cannot begin to describe what emptiness our family's hearts are feeling. We thank him for the the many life lessons he taught each and everyone of us. Being that he always taught us to seek God first, we have the comfort that Papo is amongst God, walking on streets of gold, continuing to watch over each and every one of us.

Papo we love you and will miss you dearly, this isn't goodbye, but until we meet again.
