Thomas Marroquin

Donna - Thomas Marroquin, 74, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024, at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Thomas Marroquin was born in Tahoka, Texas on December 15, 1949, to Porfirio and Lucinda Marroquin. Thomas was the youngest of six children. He met the love of his life, Airopajita, in Coachella, California in 1966 and married in 1968.  Thomas was a proud Vietnam Veteran.  Known as “Big Man”, Thomas served two years as a gunner for the 360th Transportation Company. He was a graduate of Pan American University and taught Mathematics and Spanish at Donna ISD. He was a rural route carrier for the Weslaco branch of the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 25 years.

Thomas was a hard worker and was never one to sit around.  He was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a hand. Thomas was an avid coin collector and was part of the Hidalgo Coin Club of the Rio Grande Valley.  He had an inquisitive mind and was always learning about how things work or how things are made. Thomas enjoyed action movies, telenovelas, and Tejano dancing with his wife. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Thomas was a foodie and had a wicked sweet tooth. He was civically active and was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Porfirio, mother, Lucinda, brothers Porfirio Jr., Ruben, and Roberto. Thomas is survived by his wife Airopajita Marroquin, daughter Nohemi Marroquin, son Tomas Marroquin IV (Nancy Garza), daughter Yesenia De Los Santos, sisters Elida Huerta (Jose), and Inez Cole (Norm), grandchildren Miguel Marroquin, Emma De Los Santos, Abigail Garza, Janice Garza, Mateo Marroquin, and Aydeely Marroquin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thomas will be missed.  He can never be replaced.  He will always be in our hearts.
