Rogelio Delgado Obituary

Donna - Rogelio Delgado, 87, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at The Heights of Alamo in Alamo, TX.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Rogelio Delgado, age 87, of Donna, Texas. He entered into eternal rest peacefully on June 13, 2026, at The Heights of Alamo in Alamo, Texas, with his devoted son faithfully by his side.

Our father was a loving husband, devoted family man, proud veteran, and hardworking provider. His greatest joy in life was his family. He loved his wife and children unconditionally and would do anything for them. He was our protector, our guide, and the steady foundation upon which our family was built.

To those who did not know him well, our father may have seemed tough, quiet, or reserved. But beneath that strong exterior was a kindhearted, humble, and genuinely funny man whose love ran deep. He earned the respect of everyone who knew him through his integrity, strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Rogelio proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a long and honorable career with the United States Postal Service. He worked as a letter carrier for many years until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, he devoted himself to caring for his wife, maintaining his home, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was running errands with our mother, watching his favorite westerns, tending to his yard and trees, or spending time with his beloved dog, Mia, he found happiness in taking care of those and the things he loved.

Our father was also known for his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. If something was broken, he could repair it. His resourcefulness and willingness to help others were gifts that benefited countless family members and friends throughout the years.

His love extended beyond his children to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. His face would light up whenever they were near, and the memories they shared will be treasured forever.

The best way to describe our father is as a devoted and guiding force in our lives. He loved deeply, protected fiercely, and gave everything he had to his family. Though his presence will be greatly missed, the love, values, and strength he instilled in all of us will continue to live on.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy and will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Evangelina Delgado; his children, Rogelio Delgado, Jr., Patricia (Ruben) Hernandez, Esmeralda Zamora, and Evangelina (Lucio) Rodriguez; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Mia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Paula Delgado; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Petra and Juan Salinas and Kina and Jesus Guzman; his beloved son, Michael Delgado; and his grandchildren, Alex Gibson and Rogelio Michael Delgado.

The Delgado family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and support extended during this difficult time.
