In Loving Memory of Ramon R Martinez Sr.

September 13, 1936 – July 19, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude, we announce the passing of Ramon R Martinez Sr., who bid his final farewell on July 19, 2025. Born on September 13, 1936, in Laredo, Texas, Ramon’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and unwavering devotion to family.

For 65 years, Ramon shared a loving marriage with his beloved Juanita Martinez. Their relationship was built on mutual respect, hard work, and enduring affection. Together, they navigated life’s challenges and joys, creating a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

Ramon was the proud father of Ramon, Maria, Jorge (Alisia), and Juan. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, 3- great-great grandchildren each of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother Augustine Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his son Ramon R Martinez Jr., grandsons Ramon R Martinez III and Guadalupe Martinez, and sisters Natividad, Guadalupe, Irene, Jesusa, Maria Luisa, and Alicia. Their cherished memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

Ramon’s work ethic was unmatched. A devoted provider, he often held multiple jobs simultaneously—whether as a migrant worker, cook, factory hand, janitor, or in his final post at Miller Brewery—to ensure his children never went without. He and his wife even ventured into the restaurant business, embodying the spirit of entrepreneurship and teamwork. Many times, Ramon’s search for opportunity led him far from home, traveling from Texas to Illinois and Wisconsin, sometimes alone, sometimes with his family by his side, always driven by the hope of providing a better life.

Beyond his dedication to his family, Ramon was a cherished padrino to many and a beloved presence in his community. Friends and neighbors will fondly remember the man who sat in front of his house, waving warmly to all who passed by—a simple gesture that spoke volumes about his kindness and generosity of spirit.

His stories of humble beginnings were a source of wisdom, humor, and pride—woven into countless evenings where family and friends gathered to listen, learn, and laugh. Ramon's humble roots shaped his unwavering character, and he delighted in sharing tales of his youth, imparting lessons of perseverance and gratitude to those he loved most.

Ramon R Martinez Sr.’s memory will forever remain a cherished part of his family’s legacy. His hard work, loving spirit, and gentle presence will be dearly missed and warmly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Ramon. Your legacy endures in the love and strength you leave behind.
