Donna - Martin Rubalcaba, 72, of Donna, entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2021.
Mr. Rubalcaba was born November 12, 1948, in Donna, TX, to Jesus and Maria Rubalcaba.
Martin served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, as a radio technician. He earned 3 Associate's degrees, worked in home and electronic repair, but dedicated most of his life to becoming an accomplished drummer for major Tejano/Conjunto artists. Music was life, playing all over the United States in places like Hardin, Montana, where he began coordinating community dances at the age of 15 while traveling with his family for migrant work. Martin would go on to play at prestigious stages such as Austin City Limits with Steve Jordan and a US Presidential event in Washington D.C. with Pedro Ayala. In the 70's, he even opened his own record shop in Donna with his younger brother, Jesse, called The Sound Factory.
Survived by his brother, Genaro Escobedo, sisters Isabel Vera and Yolanda Briones, 2 nieces, 6 nephews, 19 great nieces and nephews, along with 7 great-great nieces and nephews, he will be tremendously missed.
