Maria Hilaria “Lala” Cantu Olivo of Donna, Texas

April 16, 1929 – June 29, 2020

Lala Olivo, 91, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side Monday, June 29, 2020.  She was born April 16, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Ramon and Natividad Cantu.

Lala was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and raising chickens.

Lala is survived by her sister Carolina Cantu Hinojosa, sister-in-law Elisa Cantu, children:  Arnulfo (Teresa) Olivo, Eleazar (Celia) Olivo Jr., Maricela Olivo (Thomas) Nickles, Oscar Olivo, Armando (Delia) Olivo, Marivel Olivo, Tomasita E. Olivo, and Samuel Jesus (Olga) Olivo, 22 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Lala was feisty and mighty, a spitfire of a woman.  She was hard-working, determined, always caring for her family and friends before she would care for herself.  She loved all animals, especially chickens.  Lala was a good woman and friend and she was the best mom ever.  She loved her family and her family loved her.  Lala will be forever missed but not forgotten. 

Lala was preceded in death by love of her life, husband, Eleazar Olivo.

Funeral service will be Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:00 am at Val Verde Memorial Gardens, Donna, Texas.
