Donna - Maria Munoz, 77, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg, TX.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Maria Barrera Munoz, 77, of Donna, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Amara Hospice Center, in Edinburg, Texas.

Maria was born on May 8, 1944, the youngest of seven children, to Marin and Guadalupe Barrera.

She attended Mission High School. She was a devoted housewife and mother to five beautiful children. She continued her education at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas and began her career in Education as a teacher assistant and later as a teacher at Donna ISD.

Maria was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman of great strength, determination, tenacity, generosity, and love. She worked at the family business (Rudy's Auto Electric) for many years. Her interests included gardening, bingo, shopping, flea markets, the beach, and spending time with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and looked forward to decorating her thematic Christmas tree every year.

She is preceded in death by her son Rolando Javier Munoz and daughter Patricia Annette Munoz.

Maria is survived by her loving husband Rodolfo Munoz, her brothers Ramon (Armandina) and Juan (Ramona) Barrera, sister Guadalupe (Baldemar) Farias, sons Reynaldo (Dolores) Munoz, Rodolfo JR. (Susana) Munoz, Raymundo Munoz, eight grandchildren: Joshua, Michael, Ashley, Aly, Marcus, Samantha, Laney, and Hannah, and many nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.
