Maria Limon Obituary

Maria Pilar Limon, (74) of Donna, TX passed away on Friday August 7, 2020, at Knapp Medical Center. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched. Maria was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Limon†. She is survived by her loving children Gloria (David) Martinez, of Donna, Delia (Orlando) Loya, of Alamo, Jesus (Julia) Limon Jr. of Alamo, Marylou (Joaquin) Medelez of Weslaco, Sylvia (George) Perez of Donna, Frank (Erica) Limon, of Alamo & Rosa Sifuentes of Donna. (23) Grandkids, (13) Great-Grandkids; one brother Juventino Rivera Lopez of San Luis Potosi, MX. and one sister Sofia Rivera Vasquez of San Luis Potosi, MX. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Maria was a hard working woman, when she came from Mexico to start a new life with her husband and two young daughters. Working seemed nearly impossible, yet she never allowed the language barrier nor the fact that she wasn’t a citizen at the time keep her from trying to provide for her family. She always strived for a better tomorrow even when she was left widowed at only 48 with 7 kids to feed. She always lead by example to all her children by working hard in order to provide for them.   She    encouraged her children to keep pushing themselves to being better and was able to get all her children to graduate High School and pursue self-rewarding careers that provided for their families.   To Maria, her children were her world. She was happiest on Sundays when the entire family would visit her and sit around the kitchen table, where she found great joy making sure no one left her home hungry. She’d make fresh tortillas and beans or whatever else her kids had in mind. She loved to just sit and talk and tell stories of past and present. She blessed her family with great memories, recipes and stories that will be passed down for years.  She is leaving behind so many weary hearts that cannot foresee the future without her.

Maria will be remembered for instilling faith, hope and love in each one of her family members and she made sure each one knew the importance of what “family” meant to her. She assured her family of the immense love that she had for each of them and to remember to always love and take care of one another. She was the rock of the family, that you could count on for honest advice. She was also the glue, that held the family together through the difficult times. But most of all she had a heart of gold, for when you just needed a hug or shoulder to cry on. She blessed her family with memories that will live on forever.

On behalf of her entire family, thank you to everyone that has provided support and prayers during this very difficult time. Maria will forever be missed but we know through our faith that she is resting peacefully. We do not say goodbye to her, only that we love her as she showed us to love and until we meet again.
