Donna - Maria D. Gonzales, 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Maria D. Gonzales, 92, of Donna, Texas, entered eternal rest on Wednesday January 29, 2025 at Knapp Medical Center.
Maria was born on June 12, 1932, in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi and immigrated to the United States in 1945. She was the daughter of Francisco Pantoja and Beatriz Sias. Raising her children, loving and caring for her family were the most important part of her life.
She married the love of her life Jose F. Gonzales on July 9, 1951, and was married for 73 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Maria worked at Tormina Can Company for many years and also migrated with her family to Arizona, California, Minnesota, Nevada, Oregan, and Washington to work in the fields. She was a homemaker, a seamstress for her children, and ensured everyone around her was taken care of. She was a devout Catholic and active member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Her daily routine consisted of praying the Holy Rosary.
Maria was grounded in life by her faith, family, and loved ones. She loved all her children and extended family dearly. Her did not stop there, but reached the hearts of her pets as well. She enjoyed playing bingo, watching her Mexican novela’s and was a Dallas Cowboy’s fan.
Maria D. Gonzales is preceded in death by her husband Jose F. Gonzales, parents Fransico and Beatriz, her sisters Maria Gloria Garcia, Maria Del Angel Pantoja, her brother Felipe Pantoja, and her son Jose Luis Gonzales.
She is survived by: Her 4 daughters, Ernestina Gonzalez, Juana Chavez, Ana Martinez, and Beatriz Reyes; her 7 sons Francisco Gonzales, Arturo Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales, Pedro Gonzales, Javier Gonzales, and Oscar Gonzales. Maria is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and several extended family members. She will be missed by all those whose lives she caringly touched.
