Maria Alicia Aguirre

Maria Alicia Aguirre, 87, from Donna, Texas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021.

Maria was born July 4, 1934, in Mercedes, Texas, to Ponciano and Antonia Rincon. She married Juan L. Aguirre in 1953 and had 4 children. They started roots in Weslaco and eventually settled in Donna, Tx., where she worked for the Donna ISD cafeteria for over 15 years. Maria Alicia was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Donna as well as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for over 25 years, where she served as a founding member and later served as Regent. She loved sewing and crochet, and was an amazing cook, specializing in baking. Her famous carrot cake that so many families and friends loved, was second to none. She was the biggest fan of Football. Her favorites were watching the Donna Redskins on Friday nights and the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays. She also attended mass every Sunday at St. Joseph and afterwards she would have barbacoa and pan dulce ready to eat. “Licha” as she was known to her many family members and lifelong friends she made along the way, will be deeply missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ponciano and Antonia Rincon, her husband Juan L. Aguirre, siblings, Eddie Rincon, Ponciano Rincon, Jr., Rose Hillgus, Viola Cockshott. She is survived by her sisters, Hortencia Cross, Ernestina Goll, Avelina Flores, Gloria Eide, sister in law Conchita Rincon, and Brother Jose "Pepe" Rincon. Children, Robert (Linda) Aguirre from Kalamazoo, MI.; Raul (Diana) Aguirre from South Haven, MI.; Rene (Patricia) Aguirre of Weslaco, TX.; and Elizabeth (Marc) Camacho of Donna, Tx. Grandchildren, Marisa Aguirre, Maria A. (John) Stedge, Margarita (Sam) Clearwater, Rachel Aguirre, Mari Jo (Jordan) Spearmon, Angelica (Gene) Martinez, Amanda Aguirre, Aileen Aguirre, Jon-David Aguirre, Victoria Camacho, Marc Camacho II; Great-Grandchildren Robert and Benjamin Stedge, Lily Clearwater, Jordan Spearmon Jr.; and Bianca, Oliver, and Anthony Sanchez.
