“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Maria Del Carmen was born on May 12, 1942 in Mission, Texas to Isabel Guerra Cantu. Married Porfirio Alaniz Sr. in March 1957. Our Mother was received into the Lord’s loving arms in the early morning hours of October 29th. She was surrounded by her family as she made her way to her eternal home. We are grateful for her strength, wisdom, work ethic, and faith as she shared and taught those things to us. She was always the person we turned to and her home was full of her grandchildren’s laughter. She was a constant in the after school pick up line and made sure the traditional foods were always on hand. She was the grandma that made sure the children were safe and loved. Our mother was honest and did not hesitate to lend a hand when needed. We are grateful for her and thank God that she was ours.
Preceded in death by: Her husband of Porfirio Alaniz Sr. sons Jose Angel Alaniz, Manuel Alaniz. The legacy she leaves behind to cherish her memory include: 51 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Angelita Garcia, Janie Alaniz, Diana Carr, Porfirio Alaniz Jr, Norma Coronado, Carmen Rivera, Lucas Alaniz, Isabel Alaniz, Hortencia Alaniz, Javier Alaniz, Paula Galvan, Moises Alaniz.
Mom, we will miss you everyday, our hearts may never mend but we will be strong as you would instruct us to be. We will honor your memory by retelling your stories and your accomplishments. We love you always.
