Donna - Kay A. Chapman passed away at the age of 80. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna, TX.
Kay was born on January 5, 1943, in Buffalo, New York, to Walter and Mildred Nearhood. She passed away on May 2, 2023, at South Texas Health System, McAllen, Texas.
On June 6, 1964, Kay married Russell Chapman. They graduated from Elohim Bible Institute in 1969 and began pastoring Rock Glen Baptist Church in western New York State. They joined Missionary TECH Team in 1972, and served the Lord on projects in West Virginia, Texas, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador and Africa. In 1982, they went to Rio Grande Bible Institute to learn Spanish. In 1984, they began church planting ministries on both sides of the Texas/Mexican border. In 1990, they joined Baptist Mid-Missions and have been working to establish Grace Baptist Church in Donna, Texas, since 1997.
Kay served the Lord, her husband, and her family faithfully throughout her life here on earth. The faith she put in Jesus Christ when she was young bore the fruit of blessings here and eternal life in Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Donald Nearhood.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Russell Chapman; his children, Mark Chapman (Angie), Kathi Atienza (Dennis), Gail Hardegen, and Cheri Stimson (Trent); 18 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
