Juana Maldonado, a strong and resilient woman, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, at her home in Donna. She was born on December 2, 1949 in Donna, Texas to Maria Elena Vasquez and Jose Marciano Gonzalez. Juana found joy through simple pleasures; family gatherings, caring for her chihuahua “Chiquita,” watching movies with David, spending time with her sons, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Juana met her soulmate, Jose Angel at the school they attended. They fell in love and were later married and raised their four boys together in Donna. Juana watched her beautiful children become successful adults who raised their families.
Juana was a devoted housewife. She enjoyed cooking several Mexican dishes. Some of her favorite dishes were mole, caldo de res, and chile rellenos. She also had a passion for gardening. In addition to her role as a homemaker and mother, Juana found joy in collecting porcelain dolls and crystal ornaments. Juana also cherished her chihuahua “Chiquita,” who she had cared for for seven years.
A disciplinarian at heart, Juana instilled values of respect and integrity in her children.
