Weslaco- Juana Cruz 88, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.

 Juana (Mami Ita) Cruz (May 06, 1935 - September 22, 2023) was an amazing woman, mother, wife, friend to all that knew of her. She worked many decades with impeccable designs and labor in the Rio Grande, she passed away at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. She came from a hard working family from Guadalupito, San Luis, Potosi, Mexico. She resided in Weslaco, Texas for most of her life, she married her príncipe azul, for sixty cherished years. She is preceded in death by her husband Pedro Cruz (2013) and her great-grandson Ángel Olivares (2018) They brought in three boys and three girls Gilberto Cruz (Deonna), Yolanda Cruz, Ruben Cruz, Janie Castillo (Eduardo), Peter (Celia), and Nyssa Michelle Cruz. With one grand-daughter, Deena Denise Olivares (Valentin), many grandsons, Joshua Zuidema, Eduardo Castillo Jr, Alexander Keegan Cruz, Eric Jason Castillo, Jonathan Aidan Cruz, Matthew Jalen Cruz, two great grandsons, Jacob Ryan Olivares (Katia), and Valentin Olivares Jr and two great-great grandchildren Ava Kayleen and Julian Noel. Last but not least beloved grand-pup Chloe (Toti) who was adored by her. She is definitely missed in many ways, her compassion, and resilience is her lasting legacy. We love you Mami Ita.
