Jesus Ortiz Banuelos

On September 17, 2020, Jesus Ortiz Bañuelos "Chuy", loving husband, father of three, and grandfather of seven, passed away at the age of 84. Chuy was born on October 14, 1935 in Morelos, Zacatecas, Mexico, and resided in Donna, Tx. He was the third of six siblings.
Chuy was a devout Catholic, he received part of his formal education at El Seminario de la Diocese de Zacatecas, and later in El Instituto de Ciencias de Zacatecas in the area of administration.Chuy was preceded in death by his mother Lupita, father Jesus, three of his brothers, Arturo, Gonzalo and Humberto. He is survived by his wife Alicia, his children Odette, Jose, and Juan Carlos, grandchildren Ramiro, Karla, Leonardo, Hazel, Brihanna, Nikol, and Alyssa.He loved to sing, dance, attend horse and dog races, los gallos (rooster fights), going to casinos (especially in Las Vegas), Texas scratch-off, and soccer. "De musico, poeta y loco, todos tenemos un poco," was his favorite saying, as he was the embodiment of it. He was a singer, poet, composer, and explorer of life's endless treasures. Chuy left behind a legacy paved with teachings of love, kindness, and patience not only for oneself and family, but also for all those new faces that happen to stand next to him. He was a wise man, with profound knowledge of the world around us, one that never ceased to prove he was correct. 
Chuy, you will forever be missed, the void you leave in our lives will never be filled, as you walk alongside your "tocayo" rest in peace knowing you will not be forgotten, forever live in our hearts! Family and friends will pay their last respects at Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna, Tx on Monday September 21, 2020 from 10am - 5pm. Mass will be announced at a later time
