Esperanza Cavazos Obituary

Weslaco - On December 21, 2022, our angel on Earth, Esperanza H. Cavazos, was called by the Lord and returned to her beautiful garden in Heaven.  ‘Pera’ was a loyal wife, a loving mother, and a generous giving grandmother. Her family and friends were blessed with her grace for 90 years.

Pera was raised  in a hard-working, proud and loving family.  When he first met her, Jesus C. “Chuy” Cavazos immediately saw in her the heart of a brave and determined fighter, and knew they were destined to be husband and wife.  They were married in front of the Lord, family and friends on May 2, 1954.

As Chuy worked at his family’s bakery and made plans to build their forever home, Pera began rearing their family.  A daughter, Amelia, was born April 1955, followed by a son, Alfredo in August 1956. A second daughter, Alma Delia, completed the family in August 1957.

Pera spent the next 17 years providing a nurturing and loving home while also supporting her husband as he expanded the family business. Chuy never failed to show his love and appreciation to Pera, and took the family on many adventures throughout the US.  He and Pera also travelled to Hawaii as well as Rome, Italy.

In 1972, their first grandchild was born, and Pera began the next chapter of her life as a grandmother.  She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.

Pera and Chuy welcomed their first great grandchild to the family in 1992.  Over the next three decades, a total of 24 great grandchildren were blessed to become part of Pera and Chuy’s family.

After a short illness, Pera reunited with her beloved Chuy, who was waiting for her at Heaven’s door since his passing in September 2018.

Esperanza ‘Pera’ H. Cavazos is survived by 3 children, Amelia de la Rosa, Alfredo Cavazos, and Alma Winners, 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

“Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.  But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.”
