Eduardo Valdez

Progreso,TX- Eduardo Valdez, 85, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Valley Baptist Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.

The Lord called upon his son, Eduardo (Lalo) Valdez Alejandro, 85, of Progreso, Texas, to pass through the gates of heaven on Sunday, January 28, 2024 as he was surrounded by his loving family. 

Lalo was preceded by his parents Marcelino & Maria del Refugio, one grandchild: Araceli, and 8 siblings: Juan, Rito, Guadalupe, Pablo, Marcelino, Julia, Minerva, and Ofelia.

        "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me….

…And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’"

Lalo was a Roman Catholic servant of our Lord, for he denied no one a helping hand. If he could not help, he found someone who could. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family as a truck driver and field laborer, not allowing the language barrier or anything else to deter him. He was a humble man rich in faith, family, and a charitable heart.  Lalo was smart, hardworking, resourceful, proud, and family dedicated. He was an usher at his local parish, Holy Spirit Catholic Church Progreso,Tx, and was cherished by many in his community. It was a great honor and privilege to have had this amazing man as a father, relative, friend, and neighbor in our lives. He will be dearly and deeply missed. We will always love you. 

He is survived by his loving wife - Maria Luisa, his sister - Rosa , his children: Maria Teresa (Joel), Florencia (Blas), Leticia  (Roy), Connie  (Rolando), Eddie  (Aurora ), Mari  (Joe), Gabriel (Magdalena), Nereida, 21 grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
