Donna - Benito S. Villa Jr., 78, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX.  Funeral services are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Benito “Benny” S. Villa Jr., 78, of Weslaco, TX, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Knapp Medical Center due to a sudden illness.

He was born on December 3, 1944 to Benito Villa Sr. & Juanita Sauceda Villa in Estelline, TX.

He graduated from Donna High School and attended Pan American College.

He married Maria Acevedo on April 5, 1975 and they had two children, Sonia & Leticia.

Benito was a former Donna Police Officer, former Weslaco Police Captain and retired after 16 years of service with the U.S. Customs.

He also served as a member of the National Guard in Donna, TX.

Benito was a lover of life, always walking around with a smile on his face. He loved to laugh and make others around him laugh, never taking anything too seriously. He lived for adventure and never refused a car ride or trip anywhere.

Benito lived his life, devoted to serving the Lord and sharing the message of Christ with all his family and friends. He never went a day without praying for everyone in his immediate family and circle of friends. His desire was for everyone to find the Lord the same way he did.

He is preceded in death by his father, Benito Villa Sr., his mother, Juanita Sauceda Villa, his brother, Florencio S. “Lencho” Villa and brother, Jose “Pepe” Villa. He is survived by his brothers, Paul & Juan, sister Gloria, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 48 years, Maria Acevedo Villa, his daughter, Sonia Villa (Steve) Perez and Leticia (David) Arce. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Selena Perez, Eric Perez, Anica Arce & Sierra Perez.

The family would like to thank those family members and friends who took time with calls and visits with Benito. He enjoyed his many conversations with everyone; they gave him joy and purpose.
