Arsenio Alfaro Jr. Obituary

McAllen - Arsenio Alfaro Jr., 58, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, TX.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.

Arsenio Alfaro, Jr. passed away unexpectedly in McAllen, Texas on June 5, 2023, at the age of 58. Arsenio was a strong, gifted, and joyful soul who left us far too soon.

Arsenio was a veteran who served for four years as a Marine and spent another two years in the Reserves. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to his parents, Micaela and Arsenio, Sr.  When he was just 18, Arsenio decided he wanted to join the U.S. Marine Corps, embarking on a journey that would shape his future.  After basic training in San Diego, California, he spent time in Okinawa, Japan, NAS JAX Base in Jacksonville, Florida, and Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  Two years after joining the Marines, he married his high school love and several years later, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Anica and Arsenio III.

After his time in the Marines, Arsenio returned home to finish his college degree, then chose to settle in Houston, Texas, beginning his career in the banking industry.  He eventually returned home to the Rio Grande Valley, where he continued to develop his banking career and raise his family.

Before dealing with health issues that led to his early retirement, Arsenio had a vibrant career leading several banking institutions.  In retirement, Arsenio enjoyed spending time with his two children and his parents, relaxing and catching up with friends, and watching old western movies.  His children were his life, and he was so incredibly proud of the adults they have become.

Though he was taken from us too soon, Arsenio always found immense comfort in knowing that his children were loved and well-cared for, and that, should he be taken too soon, he would see all of his loved ones again one day.

Arsenio is survived by his children, Anica Raquel Alfaro and Arsenio Alfaro, III (their mother, Alma Aranda); his parents, Arsenio Alfaro, Sr. and Micaela Alfaro; his siblings, Esmeralda (Rolando) Reyna, Xavier (Angie) Alfaro, and Natalie (Chris) Gonzales; his dear friend, Joe Garcia, Jr.; and many other family members and friends who cared for him deeply.

Arsenio was a loving father, son, brother, and friend, and we will miss him dearly.  Until we meet again—Semper Fi!
