Amanda (Carmona) Rodriguez

Weslaco - Amanda Rodriguez, 104, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 at San Juan Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.

Amanda Rodriguez was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and a friend.

She was born to Guadalupe and Maria de Los Angeles Carmona, on August 25, 1918.

In 1942 she married Alejandro P. Rodriguez of Weslaco and spend almost 50 years together until his passing in 1992. She was a housewife with limited opportunities for her to receive a formal education. Her devotion for education drove her to teach herself how to read and write. Amanda was a valued member of the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Ladies of the Vela Perpetua Association.  She loved spending time working on her many quilts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her beautiful daughter Hercilia Garza, three brothers and one sister. Also her beloved aunt Eliza Guerrero and cousin Leticia Guerrero Pena.

Amanda is survived by her daughters Erma Rodriguez Campos & Elia Pena, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
