Weslaco- Amanda L. Jimenez, 88 passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 . Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.
Amanda L. Jimenez, 88, entered eternal rest peacefully in her sleep on Friday, December 22, 2023 at her residence.
Amanda was born on February 6, 1935 to Manuel Lopez and Prudencia Hernandez in Tepehuaje, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Amanda married Francisco when he returned from serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict. They went on to build a family and a business, JIMENEZ GROCERIES. As their business grew, so did their family. The Lord blessed them with eight children, 2 girls and 6 boys. Mrs. Jimenez dedicated her life to her family and God.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Manuel Lopez and Prudencia Hernandez, along with numerous brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Jimenez is survived by her children Sylvia (Richard) Saldana, David (Lupita), Frank Jr. (Carmela), Alfredo, Noe (Maria), Noelia (Kenneth +) Brown, Rolando (Norma), Rene (Becky), 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be at Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 3 – 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 6. Internment services will be held at Highland Memorial Park on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11 a.m.
