Weslaco-Adela Bustillos, 81, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.
Adela "Adelita" Bustillos was devout in her Catholic Faith till the end of her journey on earth, and was a devoted member of St Joan of Arc Catholic church. Adelita was the pillar of her family and for so many years of her life showed strength, resilience and never tired of caring for her family. Her Mother, Arcelia Silva Bustillos was a great example to all her children and passed down her morals and Faith down to all. Adelita implemented all she learned from her Mother and tried to share it with all who came into her life. The bond they shared was special and her mother's guidance and love shaped her into the wonderful woman she became. She was fascinated with theology and was a devotional reader, very passionate about obtaining more knowledge and growing closer to God. Adelita always wanted to become a nurse in her younger years and would study on her own, but due to her need of a job to help support her family she took a job at Crisson's Dept. Store and then went on to work at Jcpenney for over 25 years. Many who saw her years later still recognized her and were always happy to greet & have a chat with her. She loved to be outdoors with her plants and birdwatching brought her great joy. The Lord allowed Adelita to go peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. She loved her family and friends wholeheartedly and we all know she is still praying for each and every one of us. Please keep Adelita and her family in your prayers.
