Donna - Aaron Yarritu, 84, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025 at Ray of Light Extended Living in Harlingen, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Donna.
Aaron Yarritu passed away on September 29th, 2025, in Harlingen, Texas at Ray of Light Extended Living. He was the under the care of Mount Sinai Hospice services. He was born on September 30th, 1940, in Donna, TX to Cleto Yarritu and Gabriela Salinas Yarritu. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Irma Yarritu Smith. He is survived by his son, Kevin Yarritu, former wife Mary Yarritu, current partner Norma Gonzalez, and siblings Dora Calderon, Homer Yarritu, and Glora Capello. He also has extended family that exists in the Rio Grande Valley and scattered across the United States.
He went to high school in Donna, TX, and furthered his education at Texas A&M. He received two bachelor’s degrees in physics and math. He primarily worked as an engineer and ended his career with Intel Corporation. He spent a substantial amount of time with his son, participating in Boy Scouts and soccer. After retiring, he moved back to Donna and created a new life surrounded by his family and new relationships. He was very fond of going to Mexico during his period retirement, dancing and going to restaurants. He also immensely enjoyed traveling the world and collected numerous memorabilia from countless countries. His house was full of such collectables, and, as such, gave his home a unique atmosphere.
He will be remembered as a person who enjoyed life, and as a father who devoted significant time to his son.
